Release 5.0 of the Plant DNA C-values database

The last major update of the Plant DNA C-values database (release 4.0) was in October 2005. Since then interest in genome sizes has remained high with first estimates for over 2200 C-values published, including over 1800 species not listed in any previous release. These data, taken from over 620 reference sources, have now been added to the database. The majority of the new data are for angiosperms but additional values for other land plant groups have been added where available.

Release 4.0 (October 2005) of the Plant DNA C-values database

Since release 3.0 of the Plant DNA C-values database in December 2004 new data for 411 angiosperm species (including 308 species not previously listed) have been published in Zonneveld et al. (2005). These data have now been added to the database. A full list of the new data together with associated footnotes is published in hard copy in Zonneveld et al. (2005). The total number of angiosperm species listed with C-values is now 4427.

Future updates planned

As new data become available we will periodically update the database. We welcome receiving published offprints, preprints, and personal communications giving DNA amount estimates for plants not already included in this database.
